Reading this morning and goodness gracious this word spoke to me!

“David became more and more powerful, BECAUSE the Lord Almighty was with him.” (1 Chronicles 11:9)

Remember that God declared David to lead His people. But this did not come immediately.

David was king over Judah for 7 1/2 years before he captured Jerusalem. When David was finally anointed king of Israel, 20 years had passed since Samuel anointed him. (1 Samuel 16:1-3)

20 years David held on to the promises of God. God needed that time to prepare David’s character even more for what He had in store for him. David believed God that he was chosen and anointed to be over Israel, and he continued trusting and doing what needed to be done to accomplish each task set before him.

David’s power increased as a direct result of his CONSISTENT TRUST in God.

Things we can learn from God through David’s life.

→ God’s promises are worth waiting for, even when His timetable doesn’t match our expectations or desires.

→ Remember, you are being trained for what is ahead! He is sharpening the gifts He has given you to be used for His Kingdom purposes.

→ Stay positive and put the vision God has given before you at all times. This will help keep your focus on the goal.

→ DO NOT despise the days of small beginnings. These small things add up to big things, so embrace and collect all He is showing you and teaching you! He is refining your character.

→ Surround yourself with others who will carry that same vision!

→ Do the work before you and then leave the results to God and enjoy the journey!

What has God promised you? I pray you will keep your eyes focused on the task at hand, and remember, God will surely do just as He has promised, and He will fulfill His purpose for you as well!
