Jesus Changing Lives Ministries (“JCL Ministries,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, respectful, and Christ-centered environment for everyone who participates in our ministry activities. We believe that every person is created in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. This Safeguarding Policy outlines our commitment to protecting children, young people, vulnerable adults, volunteers, staff, partners, and all individuals who engage with our ministry.

Our Commitment

Jesus Changing Lives Ministries is committed to:

  • Promoting the safety, welfare, and dignity of every individual.
  • Protecting children and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination, and harm.
  • Maintaining safe ministry environments during all church services, evangelistic outreaches, missions, conferences, training programmes, school visits, prison ministry, and community activities.
  • Encouraging a culture of accountability, integrity, transparency, and respect.

Code of Conduct

Everyone serving under Jesus Changing Lives Ministries is expected to:

  • Treat every person with dignity, respect, fairness, and compassion.
  • Demonstrate Christ-like character in speech and conduct.
  • Maintain appropriate professional and personal boundaries.
  • Avoid any behaviour that could intimidate, exploit, manipulate, or harm another person.
  • Respect privacy and confidentiality while complying with safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Immediately report any safeguarding concern or suspected abuse.

Protection of Children and Young People

Jesus Changing Lives Ministries is committed to protecting children participating in our ministry activities.

Those serving with children must:

  • Provide a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Treat every child equally and without discrimination.
  • Avoid being alone with a child whenever possible.
  • Obtain appropriate parental or guardian consent where required.
  • Never engage in physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse.
  • Never use inappropriate language, threats, humiliation, or intimidation.

Protection of Vulnerable Adults

We are equally committed to safeguarding vulnerable adults, including individuals who may be elderly, living with disabilities, facing illness, or experiencing difficult circumstances.

All ministry workers shall:

  • Respect individual dignity and independence.
  • Protect vulnerable adults from abuse or exploitation.
  • Provide support with compassion and integrity.
  • Report any concerns immediately.

Photography, Video, and Media

Photographs and videos may be taken during ministry events to document outreach activities and share ministry updates.

Where appropriate:

  • Permission will be obtained before using identifiable images of children.
  • Images will be used respectfully and responsibly.
  • Personal information that may place individuals at risk will not be published without consent.

Online Safety

Jesus Changing Lives Ministries recognises the importance of protecting individuals in digital environments.

Our ministry workers should:

  • Communicate respectfully through email, messaging platforms, and social media.
  • Avoid inappropriate private communication with children or vulnerable individuals.
  • Use official ministry communication channels whenever practical.

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns

Every safeguarding concern should be taken seriously.

Anyone who becomes aware of suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or inappropriate conduct should report the matter immediately to the designated ministry leadership.

Reports will be:

  • Taken seriously.
  • Handled confidentially where appropriate.
  • Investigated fairly and promptly.
  • Managed in accordance with applicable laws and ministry procedures.

Where required by law, concerns may be reported to the relevant government authorities or law enforcement agencies.

Recruitment and Training

Jesus Changing Lives Ministries seeks to ensure that those serving within the ministry are suitable for their roles.

Where appropriate, the ministry may:

  • Conduct interviews.
  • Request references.
  • Provide safeguarding training.
  • Conduct background or legal checks where permitted by law and appropriate for the role.

Confidentiality

Information relating to safeguarding concerns will be handled with appropriate confidentiality. Information will only be shared with those who have a legitimate need to know or where disclosure is required by law to protect individuals from harm.

Policy Review

This Safeguarding Policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure it remains effective, reflects best practices, and complies with applicable legal requirements.
